Why Bad Things Happen

Once again, tragedy has raised it's ugly head. A shooter kills 32 innocent people and then turns the gun on himself. the most important question in all this is perhaps... Why? Why do bad things happen.

I think bad things give us an opportunity to move closer to our Godly nature. When bad things happen, people step up to the plate in ways they normally wouldn't have. People help those in need, they donate money, even let strangers live in their homes...ie. Katrina victims.

Additionally I think that tragedy reminds us of what is really important. Love, happiness, purpose, relationships, health... these things so easily get taken for granted. Then, we witness a tragedy and we're abruptly reminded that tommorow is never promised.

So...let's use the tragedy of VA Tech to remind us what we have to be grateful for today. let's live our lives today in a way that utilizes the awesome capability we all have. All of us can make the world better...and more importantly all of us SHOULD make the world better. The thing is...we don't have forever to do it.
