My Heart Cries For Sean Bell

I think most Americans at least want to believe in the justice system.  We are taught that justice is blind and fair.  We are taught that if you leave things in the able hands of Lady Justice that all will go well for you.  America is itself fair and indeed just.

The truth of the matter is sometimes, America and it's justice system is anything but fair and just.  The truth of the matter is that sometimes our justice system looks out for those with money, those with status, and those who have power.  If you are Sean Bell's fiance, son  or mother, the justice system doesn't give a damn about you.  Not because you're black, but because you have no power.

Today the justice system in New York made it clear that, common sense, fairness, and value of human life mean nothing.  The justice system in New York said loud and clear to the family of Sean Bell that they and their deceased son, husband to be, and father didn't matter.  What did matter was that some hard working police officers made an honest mistake, and they are who we should be concerned about.

For anyone who doesn't know, Sean Bell was in a car with a couple of friends and got shot at 50 times by undercover cops without uniforms or standard police vehicles.  Sean was killed. Oh...neither Sean or his friends were armed.  The cops said they 'thought he had a gun'.  So as confirmed by the New York justice system it turns out that just a thought and nothing else is enough justification for cops to unload 50 bullets into your vehicle.  Why am I praying that any cop that pulls me over has no thoughts whatsoever?

So I guess it was all just a mistake.  Hopefully that will comfort the young lady who Sean was about to marry later that day.  Hopefully Sean's son can understand that the police thought his daddy had a gun so he had to die in a hail of gun fire.  Hopefully Sean's mother will be OK with the fact that justice is a little too much to hope for when you're not in power...here in America...Land of the Free, Home of the Brave.

Today the police officers who killed Sean Bell an unarmed man who had committed no crime were cleared of all charges.  If you empathize with those police officers, I wonder if it would be OK if your son was killed because cops 'thought' he had a gun...think about that.

The justice system of New York didn't care about Sean and his family...but for whatever it's worth...tonight my heart cries for Sean Bell.  God Bless.

What? That's shocking! I hate to sound so out of the loop but I didn't know about that.

Shot 50 times? Even if he had a gun that's rediculous. That to me is a message loud and clear!

Message: ... you don't mean sh** to us and don't think that you ever will! And we ain't scared to blantly show this and Americans won't do anything about it because they feel the same way.

The message is from a few bad Cops,
the whole Police Core, unless they do something about it,
and the Justice System, who did nothing about it,
and American Citizens if they don't stand up and say this is not OK!

This is shocking! I'm truly pissed!

...and to me it is about race, maybe not only race but it is about race. Think about the uproar if that was a White Man!!!... and especially if the Cops were Black. Whaaaaat?

Whatever happened to incapacitating a threat (a human being) and maybe saving a life even if you were threatened? Isn't that their duty? NOT TO KILL if at all possible? Dont' we have the right to stay alive, not to be killed by law enforcement?

And worse, I mean it ain't even like the guy fired a shot.. that's an obvious message...ALL COPS INVOLVED made the same bad judgement call? Yeah right!!

Wow!

I just learned that 2 of the 3 cops involved were Black! Wow! I guess "house niggers" do still exist!

I don't know what to say about that except it doesn't change in my mind who's responsible and that it is still a race issue!

The bad judgement of 3 cops
The police core
The Judicial System
and America if we don't do something (Al Sharton is causing havoc in NY, that's good)

Whether the shooters were black,
white or purplish paisley, it's reveals a still racist america because:
1. they were representing the ploice force
2. the victim was black on court day and you can't say they didn't know it! Yet they said loud and clear ... don't worry boys, it's ok, we understand. ;-)

I hope all races get involved in the protest!

Your thoughts on this matter really touched me. (I am on tears as I write). I totally agree that America and its justice system are anything but fair and just. It Was a Mistake ….and that is supposed to justify everything….????????? A few months back (in Las Vegas) a cop killed a woman in front of her husband and her kids because he assumed she was a threat to her children at the moment…….Was it another mistake? How many “mistakes” will it take...how many innocent people like Sean Bell need to die...before America takes a look and does something about its justice system?
