Blue Collar White Workers

The pundits are forcing my hand!  There has been all this talk in the democratic political world, about 'white blue collar workers'.  All the pundits are asking each other "Why is Hillary getting all their votes and Barack can't seem to connect to them?"  They say that without these critical swing voters that Barack will have a very hard time winning a general election.  They say that "Barack is too high minded and he's an elitist, that's why he can't connect.  Hillary talks their language...she's one on them."

Yep...she is one of them.  She's no 'blue collar worker' but she is damn sure white.  Not that there is anything wrong with that.  In fact some of my best friends are white.  (I always wanted to say that.)  Hillary is white, and these 'blue collar workers' that have evaded Obama are white, I wonder if there is a connection....Hmmmm.

Now I am no racial conspiracy type, but I find it curious that all these smart pundits on the TV political shows, scratch their heads wondering what Obama's problem is and never think to have a serious discussion about the possibility that racial bias may be in play here.

They are quick to harshly criticize Jeremiah Wright for his racial comments, but don't have the guts to have real talk about the role of race and racism in this presidential election.  I don't even necessarily think racism is the cause of the supposed disconnect between Obama and these 'white blue collar workers', maybe a lot of people still prefer people who look like them.

However, I am not dismissing the very real possibility that racism is the cause of the disconnect.  Either way I think it's stupid that these 'smart' political experts won't even consider a real discussion about the role of race in the election.  Even though they might not personally experience racial bias, let me assure you that herein America "Home of the Free" it is STILL very real.

So...maybe Obama never will win big numbers of these 'white blue collar workers', but let's at least have an honest discussion about why.

Stay Fly and Fly High!
